What to Expect at This Year's Midwinter Madness by Grace C

Midwinter Madness
I was able to step into Midwinter Madness’ activity meeting and get the inside scoop on what’s going to happen in this year’s Midwinter Madness season.

What to expect for Midwinter Madness 2013:
If you haven’t picked it up yet, there is a Harry Potter theme. The poster with Pigs for Peace is in Harry Potter font along with the Semi poster.  Any guesses on why the wizardly theme was chosen?

A twist on the Crush bottles:
There will still be the traditional selling of Crush bottles however, for those who are not in the OES vicinity (OES alumni) or people who, like me, have no care for bottles containing 75 g of sugar, there will be ‘Virtual Crushes’ that you can buy and send a crush e-mail to your sweetheart.  On a sad note, the MWM committee was not able to get their hands on Purple Crush this year so there won’t be any Purple bottles of Crush on sale this year.

Send Kisses this year too:
Similar to sending Crush, you can buy packs of Hershey’s kisses to send to your friends with a personalized message.

House Cup System:
Tagging on to the Harry Potter theme, there will be a House Cup point system, awarding points to each class who participates in/attends the most MWM events such as the Senior/Faculty basketball game, Powdertuff and Powderpuff.  The points will be tallied and the class with the most points will probably get a prize…if not, the prize of eternal fame will be awarded.

Casino Night/Semi
With your funny money that you can order along with buying Semi tickets, there will be Roulette and craps tables along with the traditional Black Jack tables as well. Pre-order for semi tickets are $10 each and Pre-order funny money is $15 for $100 worth of funny money. Get ready to roll those dice!

Also. Expect lots and lots of food.
