Charge! The Civil War History by Elanie F.

Civil War Winterim Group at Harper's Ferry
Going to the East coast with Ron Silver and Art Ward to study Civil War history was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. In this Winterim, we crossed three states in less than 10 minutes on the very first day in Harpers Ferry.

Ron’s abundant knowledge about all the details of this event, how the John Brown planned everything in a house in Maryland, how they crossed the bridge in the night and got the town under control, what mistake John Brown made which caused him to fail... etc. We did not only visit Harpers Ferry, but also walked the battlefields of different battles, such as the battle of Gettysburg, the bloodiest battle as well as the turning point of the Civil War. There were various of indoor activities involved, too, such as visiting museums and watching short films.

Besides the studying part, the group was also able to explore the town of Gettysburg, charge through the battlefield of Manassas, try the burger named Robert E. Lee, wander around DC, and stop at the White House and hear a storytelling at the Ford Theatre. Certainly what you have learned in APUSH is very useful, but going to the East with Ron will lead you charge through the Civil War history in a more fun way.
